Kidman: Scientology to Blame

September 10th 2007 06:45

What is Nicole Kidman's problem? Has she not gotten enough publicity in the past week following her Vanity Fair interview? Is it not enough that she has people world wide guessing who her 'mystery' fiance was?
The latest 'revelation' comes in this week's Woman's Day 'I've lost my kids to Scientolgy'. The title here says it all but i have to disagree with you Nic. You lost your kids because you chose not to be apart of their life. You chose to galavant from one place to another with one man to another than play a more active role in your kids life. You have the money and power to fight for those children if you really wanted to - clearly you don't.

I only know of Scientology what is put out in the media but i am sure there is no rule banning a Catholic mother from being part of her childs life nor do i think Tom Cruise would restrict her. The reality Nic is that you have yourself to blame. Quit moaning and deal with your issues privately.

I am not sure how much you know about scientology but they are not some quaint but harmless cult.

It is worth reading up on them.

They do enforce family seperation from exmembers and even hire private investigators to dig up dirt.
This is part of what the founder L Ron Hubbard described as 'Fair Game'.

Are we giving Woman's Day credit for running a truthful article here?

Are we judging someone based on an article read in Woman's Day?

I'm not sure if either of these are wise.

Cheers

I love satirical posts. This one was great.

I'm glad you don't have any problems, and are just pretending to be Catholic. You're a step ahead of everyone aren't you? You're just seeing if any real Catholic parents read Orble posts aren't you? Ones who don't read Vanity Fair, and Woman's Day or look at all the pics of immodest women on the cover and on the inside pages? You don't even read those magazines do you? You're too busy attending church, reading Sacred Scripture and raising children who obey all of God's Commandments aren't you?. I bet you even have apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary at work, and she tells you to Blog against immmodesty and celebrity by having a celebrity blog. You kidder you.

I loved the subtext of this one:

I only know of Scientology what is put out in the media

Especially the way you pretend you don't know what grammar is. You kidder you.

Way funny. I get it. As if you're into media. You're out to save the world from immorality aren't you?

Boy, you nearly got away with this post. I hope not too many people read my comment. It might expose you as a kidder not a Kidman. A Kidwoman? Or a Kidperson?

Maybe readers would understand more given a personal record of experience in Scientology. Being a bit like John Saffron investigating cults, religion, etc - I had sessions at Scientology's Sydney Pitt Street headquarters. This was in the 1980s. My teenage son was involved, so I had additional incentive to find out about their doings. Doings like sessions one-on-one where the Scientology person is monitoring your answers with a lie detector, connected like a clothes peg to your thumb the same way as a blood pressure indicator. The aim was to find things in your brain called "engrams", being some kind of repository of negative energy caused by the negative decisions for which a person is responsible. (A counterfeit of the Bible concept of sin and stongholds of the mind?) The lie detector had a screen with a seismic line that jumped on encountering an "engram" in any answer. All sorts of personal questions got asked. And answered. Ooops! Later I read somewhere that Scientology had a people file-swapping arrangement with the CIA!!

Thanks David. I had a good laugh reading your post. You have me all wrong - definately not a Catholic or out to save the world.
I can say though that i have been working in media and publishing for last 10 years and that included Woman's Day publisher ACP. So yes, i do read that crap, how else can i comment on it?
Above all, i am not a Kidman fan! I am so sick of her seeking pity with all these 'revelations' in order to put herself back in the limelight.

Damo - you say that Scientology enforces seperation from ex members but Nicole was never a member.
All i am trying to say is that Nicole is mother to those kids and if she truly wanted to be more part of their life then i am sure there are ways around it.

Thanks Chic Critique.
I know that not everything we read in magazine should be taken as gospel, especially the weekly gossip magazines. However, following Nicole's recent interview with Vanity Fair, it seems nothing is sacred anymore and Nicole is out there dishing the dirt and looking for sympathy to anyone who will listen. That is my take on the situation and i am sticking to it.

Big Cat - you help prove my point that a parent can get involved in child's life who is a scientolgist even if they are not. Did you encounter any hostilities or told no you can not be apart of your child's life? Does not seem like it. So why is Kidman making out that the cult is the reason behind her estrangement?

Anon - I am guessing it is Aziza, so forgive me if I am wrong.

I know womans days is not the most reliable source, so I don't actually know how Kidman has or has not been looking after her kids. Nor would even care who she is sleeping with. Frankly she is not my type, never been attracted to redheads. Not sure why.

However only if you are interested you could look up a site called www.xenu.net.

Nice try, Aziza. But why do you think they use lie detector testing to get the dirt on a father who might be concerned about his son's involvement in the cult? So that they can say nice things about him? Or for potential leverage in case he becomes "troublesome?"

Anyone else out there got experience of them and their fixation on engrams?

Azziza,

I'm a religion ignoramus (and I'd like to keep it that way) so I can't claim knowledge of Scientology. And also take everything written in any womens mag with a grain of salt. But I have to say, I agree with you. If she really wanted to be a bigger part of those kids lives she could have been.

She's an enormous star with access to a media that already paints Cruise as a nutter. She would get more than enough sympathy from the media (and lets face it, it's mostly trial by media these days).

Sure, Tom's scientology beliefs could have made it really difficult, but she had more tools than most at her disposal.

Mind you, I dislike Nicole intensely........so I'm hardly unbiased! hehehe.
